Sentiment

This project explored the value of sentiment, specifically from a personal perspective from collected items and souvenirs from childhood such as plastic capsules (and contents) from Gashapon machines.

The fascination came from investigating  the methods of communicating the idea of sentiment through physical manifestation.  Ideas of coveting, protection and encapsulation drove the experimentation as well as the investigation into expressing the relative transience of emotional value to the physical object it’s placed upon. The transformation of how the meaning behind that object changes through emotional attachment and being able to visualise it. There is more than what’s visible to the eye and that can even result in distortion.
